Today's word for the Advent Photo-A-Day challenge is "bound." There are lots of different expressions of this word, but the image that came immediately to my mind was my niece, Sarah. It's time for another Rethink Church photo challenge! Today's word is "Go." After spending a few restful days in the mountains with my seminary family, it's definitely "go time." I have a paper on "Ancient Future Faith" due this evening, a presentation on Julian of Norwich's "Revelations of Divine Love" tomorrow, and two other papers due this week before finals commence next week. I spent the evening with some of my best friends in seminary. These are truly wonderful ladies whom I love and respect. My friend, Maggie, is the epitome of hospitality...always. She cooked dinner for us and tucked us all in for a movie. She even put me up for the night (as a Tennessean, I don't like to drive in the snow), complete with my own toothbrush marked with my name, breakfast, and a packed lunch. The Rethink Church Photo Challenge has been really fun so far. I have loved looking for opportunities each day to experience the word of the day. Today's word is "World." I took this picture of a scripture of a wall at my seminary. I love my school's focus on global ministry!

Today's word is "Injustice." There are things all around us that are injust from stereotypes to violence to political power grabs. One of the plights that I am sympathetic to is homelessness. In both Denver and Nashville there are large communities of homeless persons in our midst. In Nashville, organizations like Room in the Inn, The Contributor, and Open Table have made great strides in giving resources, dignity, and support to the homeless. I have personally ...
