A chilled early morning catching up on emails and uploading items to the web. For breakfast I've had a chilled can of V8 and peanut butter on almond crackers in my room. I'm on the 14th floor of the Chancellor. I have a snippet of a view over Union Square, the shopping area of San Francisco (the Oxford Street if you like). It's lovely to feel the warmth on your skin. Yesterday was glorious sunshine and I enjoyed catching sight of my first palm trees and bougainvillea in a long time.

My train arrived into Emeryville on time where we had to pick up a Thruway bus to San Francisco. The traffic over the bridge was unbelievable. I'm glad I'm not a commuter here. What views over the bay, and we were lucky in that it was crystal clear and warm. In actual fact I was boiled as I'm having to wear two cardigans and my coat as they don't fit in my bag. I got off at Shopping Centre which is next to Westfield, crossed the road and walked up the hill to Union Square. Not too bad, but I did arrive hot! The exercise is good for me!

I then did the tourist thing and caught the big bus tour to get a flavour of the city. We visited various residential neighbourhoods, the jazz area, Victorian houses, Russian Hill, the park, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf. I sat on top deck again, this time in a comfortable temperature (not freezing like in Washington DC or Chicago). I stopped in Westfield and visited Bristol Farms to pick up a salad for dinner. I'm not sure this is the place to hang out at night on your own. It was good to have some downtime watching a couple of films on TV.

Today I'm going to go down to Fisherman's Wharf to see the bay. By the time I arrived in that area last night it was already dark, so I'd like to see what it's all about.
