A relaxed morning was had and much needed today. We were shown where the money exchange place was at the nearest metro station by our host, Mary. We then headed into town and visited the tourist centre to ask questions and from there we were able to plan our next 3 days. After lunch we walked around and headed towards The Royal Palace which is the King's official residence, the palace is open to the public in between official receptions. In the palace we saw The Royal Apartments The Treasury, The Royal Chapel, The Royal Armoury, and outside - The Royal Guard. The Palace was built in Italian baroque style and completed in 1754. It is still used today for various events and other members of royalty stay there on occasions. It was truly beautiful. After that we viewed The Riddarholmen Church which was completed around 1300 and is the burial place for Swedish royalty, the only remaining abbey in Stockholm. We saw the changing of the guard too. We had a sit down in the Old Square and admired the architecture of the buildings. We wandered through the streets and looked at some souvenirs. We were quite hungry by this stage and had dinner, then headed back to the accommodation. What a nice day!
