On leaving Innsbruck our friends had advised us of a route to take us to Hungary via some good roads and a pass, Gerlos Alpenstrasse.
It was a great route and a lovely pass, but there was just so much traffic, far more than we remember experiencing last time we were here. Climbing Gerlos pass we even encountered buses.
We had been quite lucky with the weather so far, as I mentioned earlier the road was wet on the way to Innsbruck, so we were obviously only just behind the rain, well on this day we went through a town called Uttendorf where they were still cleaning up from floods that had happened two days earlier, there was mud and damage everywhere along the road where the water had banked up due to the road being built up.
We continued on towards a campground not too far from the Austrian boarder. On the way though our luck with the weather finally gave up and for the last hour of riding we were in rain, it was still raining when we arrived at our chosen campground. Here we had decided to stay for two nights, we planned a day off for ourselves and to sort a few things out.
We were lucky with setting up our tent though, there was a small 'carport' we were able to set our tent up in and then carry it out into the rain to place on our selected plot.
The campground was nothing too special, though it did boast 4 swimming pools, 2 heated. There was also a nice walk in the nearby forest that we did, we also splashed out on dinner in the restaurant, I wasn't keen on cooking in the rain.
After our short break it was back on the road and into Hungary via Slovenia.

Jan You weren't "keen on cooking in the rain", so you "splashed out... in the restaurant" instead?! The rain has seeped into your language ; )
EricL Rain. If you’re out traveling long enough, you’ll get some. Someone wise once said “The weather is.” Period. Whatever it is, it is. Glad you’re prepared for it. Hope you were able to dry out quickly.
