We've had a few nice chilled days in San Diego, staying around the very cool Ocean Beach area in our van. We arrived on Monday and parked up at the beach before devouring massive burgers at local institution Hodad's. Delicious, but we couldn't eat the rest of the day. We then drove around a bit and caught the sunset over the fishing pier, very nice.

The next morning, we went for a beach run. Very unfit, but we were rewarded by the sight of several dolphins out among the many surfers and pelicans! It's a very friendly, hippy area with what must be the highest concentration of VW Kombis anywhere! We then headed into town for the day, walking through the nice old Gaslamp Quarter, having a pizza for lunch in the Italian area and checking out the beautiful waterfront. We got onto the deck of the USS Midway for free, which was pretty cool, before returning to Ocean Beach to relax for the remainder of the day.

Yesterday was a massive day. After our run we headed to the San Diego Zoo, where we spent ages checking out all the animals, there are so many and it is set out so well! Highlights included the flamingos, tigers, jaguars, hippo, monkeys, pandas, giraffes, leopard and rhinos. They even had a kiwi house, but we couldn't spot them. We then had a nice wander through beautiful Balboa Park. When we got back to Ocean Beach they were having their weekly farmers market with all kinds of delicious foodstalls. We got the famous San Diego fish tacos, so good!
