We drive down from Bryce Canyon on Thursday passing through lots of desert and rock formations until we got to the Grand Canyon in the afternoonfor our first views of the massive hole! We were pretty tired after the big drive so made our way to the campground for the night. Still lots of snow around, but we had a pair of stags to keep us company, that we got right up close to.
The next day we got up early to go on a hike into the canyon. The hike was billed as 4-6 hours, but we only ended up taking 3! We passed down a steep icy trail into the canyon, to Skeleton Point and had some great views. It is impossible to capture the vastness of the canyon on camera and we were only seeing a small section of it. It is a two day trip to get to the river at the bottom and back. The annoying thing about walking in a canyon is that you have to go up on the way back, but we made it! We spent the afternoon relaxing and had our first shower in a few days, blissful!
