Updating from Baltimore! We've been staying with my cousin, Nick, who is at Johns Hopkin's University. Had a good few days experiencing the student life here. Nick is in a fraternity, so gives a bit of a different experience from uni life in NZ. We've done a bit of exploring around the town as well and checked out the campus.
On Friday evening we went to the National Aquarium, which is fantastic! There were lots of amazing exhibitions, but the sharks and rays were definitely a highlight.
Saturday, we walked down to the inner harbour with Nick taking in some of Baltimore's interesting neighbourhoods along the way and visiting the Peabody Library, which is absolutely stunning. Later that day we went to see the King's Speech, highly recommend this movie. In the evening we went out for dinner with Nick and his girlfriend Jeanine to a Greek Tapa's restuarant. It has been restaurant week here and we had an extravagant set menu that was delicious, but so large we could barely walk afterwards. We also got the chance to try the famous Maryland Crabcakes. Later that evening we partied at the Frat having quite a night!
Sunday was a big rest day. Later in the day we drove out to some of Mikaela's relatives not too far out of Baltimore where we had dinner before Nick and I returned home and Mik stayed there overnight. Today I attended one of the lectures at Johns Hopkin's on astrophysics. It was interesting noting the difference and similarities between NZ. Later on we headed off to play squash and are now waiting to see what the weathers going to do, so we can see if we can get to DC tomorrow.
