Wycliffe Well to Mataranka
We this will be our longest day on the road and in hindsight we would stop at Daly Waters but for some reason we just kept pushing on.
Up early and on the road fairly quickly we stopped in Tennent Creek for fuel and Coffee then to attack creek for morning smoko. We were going to stop at Elliott for the night but we had been advised not to stop there and I really understand why it was a very rundown place and didn't look at all inviting. So we pushed through to Daly Waters but we reach there at about 2pm so we thought we could make Mataranka . It was 40 in the shade at Daly Waters and it took 40mins to fill up the tank with gas, Steve was not at all impressed with the car and the pump. Again the scenery was changing constantly as we moved north the vegetation got thicker and more tropical and when we stopped at Larrimah the humidity was also there.
We made it into Mataranka at about 4.30 (mandatory stopping time) and we stayed at Bitter Springs Cabin and Caravan Park which is a ten minute walk to Bitter Springs. The Humidity hit us and boy you could have taken a knife to the air and cut a hole in it but it did cool off at night so that was a relief and the trusty van has aircon thank god. As we had just done 700k's we decide to stay two days.
