Hi We went from Kings Canyon to Alice Springs today.
What we thought would be a long drive ended up being quite easy. We left the beautiful camp after an Ok nights sleep as Steve and I were woken in the middle of the night by a pack of Dingoes howling at the moon. We weren't afraid but just amazed that we were so close to it. Again Kings Canyon was the best stop so far and everyone should get there in their lives.
As the road is not made (I mean hard top) to get to Alice via Hermansberg, we needed to retrace our steps back to the Lassiter Hwy and back through Erldunda. We stopped this time at Mt Ebaneiser Station and this was a good stop as they had a gallery and nice shop with good food so if you need top stop this is a good spot.
Fuelled up at Erldunda (must not look at price of gas) and headed for the Alice we thought that this would be a long trip but we made it into Alice quite early about 2pm. But the best part of the days trip was the stop at Stuart Wells (yes wells and springs seem to be a reacuring name).
I had seen on Sunrise (I know I am a dag) about a singing Dingo "Dinky" and I remember saying to Steve that I wanted to see it if we could, but flakey Lynn thought it was after Alice! But thanks to all the wonderful roadside signs (Daniel would hate this) we stopped at Stuart Wells. We arrived at lunch time and a group of French Bikers that we had been following had requested a proformance (Don't think Jim was happy with that don't blame him) so we ordered lunch and sat down for the Performance. Jim was amazing and I will up load the Video and you will see how well he spoke and the french translation! He asked James to play the piano and James jumped up and started playing and Dinky started singing and then he jumped up on the piano and really let fly James nearly cakked his pants have a look at the Video it goes for a bit but give it a go it is worth it.
Alice will be my next blog
