Yesterday we had decided that today would be the day that we trek up to the view point so my alarm was set for 09:00. I hadn't got a text from sara so i assume they had a late night and were still sleeping but for dan and I we had to go today as we are planning to leave tomorrow to Koh Lanta. I didn't bother showering because i knew i would only need another one once we're back so we left ours at around 09:30.
The view point is right next to Teas Taw where we are staying which is handy and so we began walking up the first flight of concrete steps. On the way up the steps we passed a few restaurants and guesthouses and i just thought sod staying in one of those and having to clamber up and down those stairs everyday! Most of thr stairs were in the shade which was good as when the sun is out it's really hot. We must have climbed around 200/300 stairs when we got to the ticket office. They ask for 20TB entry fee to pay for the upkeep of the viewpoint which is fair enough.
There are beautiful gardens with vibrant colours and aromas. Once we paid, we continued up through the jungle on a concrete slope which got very steep at times and my legs began to feel weak so we had a 30 second rest for some water. We carried up to viewpoint 2, which seems the be the most popular as most tourists were walking that way. Once we got to the top the view was out of this world. The viewpoint allows a beautiful bird's eye view of the two different beaches of the island, such beautiful bays. We sat on a rock for a while admiring the magnificent scenery in front of us while soaking up some sun.
Daniel got hungry and wanted to get breakfast so we left shortly afterwards to make our way back down when i spotted a sign for "view point 1". We followed the path which led us to another spot with a view, this time overlooking the pier and mountains, it wasn't as good as the other one but beautiful all the same. We continued down the path and back down all the concrete steps. Daniel was ahead of me and said he would meet me back at the room as i want to shower before breakfast but when i got to the bottom of the steps and to the room he wasn't there. I then had to find the cleaner and ask her to open the room for me so i could shower and change. Unfortunately because Daniel had the key, i had no electricity so i had to shower in darkness, only using the torch on my phone and i couldn't open the curtain because then i would be in full view of people passing the room.
Once i had showered i left to take out money and meet Daniel at breakers for breakfast. When i got there he was already eating so i just got a bottle of water and texted Sara who said they would come to meet us for brekkie. When they got there daniel left and went back to the room so we ordered our food. I went for an open face tuna salad melt with salad instead of fries and the girls had bacon butty and egg and toast.
The food was perfect, there was heaps and heaps of melted cheese on top of a slice of bread topped with tuna mayo with tomato and the dressing they use on the side salad tastes gorgeous. They told me about their antics the night before which was hilarious as there always seems to be something that happens. Once we all finished our gossip and food we headed back to the room and arranged to meet on the beach in a little while.
When i got back to the room we chilled for a while and i played some of my kinghunt slicing game which had kept me really busy; probably the reason why my blog is suffering but it's addictive. It got to around 14:00 when we left to walk to the beach. Sometimes we go around bare foot as everythings in walking distance and there's no glass on the floor, mainly cats, cockroaches and frogs (in wet weather). I got a slice of pizza on the way to meet them which was a bit greedy but i couldn't help myself and we walked up to them spread out on their towels on the sand. Sara was resting on Alex's lap and i think they were all pretty hungover still.
It was particularly hot on the beach so Dan and I didn't stay long at all and so we said bye to the girls but arranged dinner for tonight as dan and i are going to koh Lanta tomorrow. On the way back to the room we got a banana shake from the lady just outside where the girls are staying and it was one of the nicest banana shakes i've had out here, not too sweet or milky, just perfect. When we got back to the room i had a shower and a little lay down for a couple of hours as the sun takes it out of me. It began raining soon after we got in too so we were thankful we didn't get caught in it at the beach.
We left our room to meet the girls outside the rock backpacker place where they are staying and decided on italian for dinner. We walked to mamacita, the place dan and i had gone before and when we went in it was busy with a table of about 12 people but we sat down anyway near the TV and fan. Titanic was on but with no sound so we all began to watch it before ordering the food. I went for fettucine al salmone which was sooooo nice, the pasta tasted so fresh and the sauce and salmon was delicious, daniel went for spaghetti calzone, sara had seafood fettucine, alex had pizza and jenny went for spag bowl. As we were eating they turned the tv up when we realised it wasn't even in english, there was a thai voice over throughout the whole film but we all watched it anyway. Sara got up to ask for the bill and came back with the cutest ginger and white kitten which we played with. When it tried to jump onto my lap it slid off and scratched me on the way down but i didn't mind so much. It ended up sleeping on my lap long ways for a while until we left the restaurant.
Daniel chose to go back to the room to pack instead of come out so we waited for sara and alex to brush their teeth (jenny stayed in as she wasn't feeling very well) and the three of us went to stoned bar where Alex's crush works as a guy who plays with fire. I said bye to Dan and said i wouldn't be out late. We walked passed other fire shows going down on the beach until we got to stoned and all found a table and cushions to sit around. We each ordered a large change and enjoyed the fire show that was going on. We laughed about Alex's "asian persuasion" as she's developed a big thing for thai guys. Tong (the thai) came over and picked her up and did the limbo under a stick of fire and then gave her a big kiss afterwards which was sooo cute.
While we were lazing around drinking and watching the show we saw a really drunk blonde girl who is buddy's (american from last night) friend and he said how annoying she is. We laughed at her for a bit until we saw who she was with, a man pushing 50 smiling and looking a bit sleazy. He disappeared for a while and she sat alone pulling faces and grinding her teeth together. The man came back with a bucket for her which was crazy as she didn't need anymore alcohol. I sat and watched her for a bit acting completely mental and when she stood up on her own when the man went to walk to the sea Alex jumped up to ask if she was okay and if she was on drugs. She just seemed shocked and said "i'm not on drugs!" In her american accent.
Soon after that, a woman who was sat with a black man with an afro approached us and said she reckons the girl may have been date raped which seems very plausible as she was definitely on something other than booze. At this moment Buddy walks past so i call him over telling him whats happened so he went to find her. But it turns out they know the man, either way it was all a bit dodgy. The woman and her partner came and sat with us and we spoke about the islands and she said that we will be shocked when we get to Koh Lanta after here which worried me a bit because she said it's sooo quiet, i do like peace and quiet but not too much.
I still had to pack my stuff up but didn't want my last night to end so soon. Shortly after a while when Alex went to sit with Tong ( her thai guy) i said goodbye to Sara, Buddy and the couple and walked along the beach passing the fire shows and people dancing to go back to the room. I went into a mini mart on the way home to get daniel crisps and chocolate as he requested and as i was walking down the strip with the pizza i witnessed a Russian couple having a fight and an asian man who made conversation with me asking where i was from. I said it was from london and he replied "ooh! I love victoria!" As in beckham, i laughed and we said goodbye to each other.
I got back to the room and began folding and gathering all my belongings to squeeze into my backpack, i would reward myself with a spliff after. And once i was all packed up i got into bed smoked and we watched an episode of an idiot abroad. I fell asleep soon after.
