Mike & Benedict's World Adventures
Next up was Nha Trang, I had decided i was going to get my PADI open water diving certificate here whilst Ben was going to lie on the beach. On the first evening i found Rainbow diver's, they said i could do the course in 3 days which was good for me. Also at this point we were travellign with Stefie and Malte (a couple of Germans). Stefie decided to join me on the diving course.
The first evening we spent 4hours watching diving films, the next day (starting at 6.15 as would the 2 following days start) we head straight for the pool, after being rubbish for the first hour i got a grip and picked up the rest easily after 5 hours in the pool and after learning a lot of skills we were ready for the open water dive. My instructor Su (pronounced shoe) was complete legend who always helped me take the piss out of Germans and Women (poor Stefie).
When i returned from diving knackered i eventually Ben who proceeded to tell me about the best night out ever with the English girls we had met in Hoi An. He also kept informing me of the 10,000 dong (35p) - double vodka mixer and "jam jars" - a very strong cocktail funnily enough served in a jam jar type container. Diving was all of a sudden starting to not feel such a good move.
An early night for me after we visited the english girls with the germans at their hotel (ben stayed on to chat with the germans and the english girls and of course have a few beers).
The next day it was time for the sea, this was spectacular and i loved it. A dive always started with practicing some skills then just for fun. However inbetween my dives that day my good friend sea sickness decided to visit me, so i spent my lunch floating in the sea to get rid of the sick feeling (it worked). After the second dive i felt fine again and it was time to head back to the beach, i also took the exam which i obviouly passed. When i arrived at the hotel Ben was still in bed (i would also like to mention waking up at 6.15 in the morning with Ben mooning you is not a good start to the day).
After waking Ben up and hearing about another nights clubbing it was off to the beach for some swimming and sleeping followed by another early night. Once again the diving was spectacular in the morning as we saw loads of fish and corals plus no sea sicknss today. We also practiced inflating our BCD's by mouth underwater as well as practicing the situation of a lost mask (i.e. taking your mask off putting it back on then clearing it by blowing through your nose). Finally the course was completed and i could now enjoy a night out (with Su, Ben and the Germans).
The night took us to Why not bar (the 10,000 dong for a double viodka mixer bar), crazy kim's and finally the sailing club (my favourite club) where it appears really upmarket but the drinks are suprisingly cheap and you can go and sit on the beach around a fire. Here we met some more english people as well as some Italians, who i spent hours convinving a sunday roast was better than any Italian meal.
The next day we met Dave again so it was a day spent at the beach playing frisbee as well as just lieing around before another night on th beer although there was nu clubbing as we were up early the next day to move onto Da Lat.
