Nelson

First Day

We got to Nelson feeling a little better after sleeping for both the whole ferry and bus trip. Which is a good thing because we were due to meet a guy called Jan who had offered to put us up for a few nights.

Jan picked us up from the bus stop and showed us around Nelson city centre, then took us to his really nice house. His house was part way up a mountin, the views were amazing. He has a dog called Rocky who was fun. We went for a walk in the rain forest for a couple of hours then got a Chinese take away and a drink at the pub later :)

Second Day

Up for 7am to head to Abel Tasman National Park. Jan took us to the bottom of a mountin to see the rapids then headed to the top to see the views of the National Park and Nelson which were amazing. We saw a rock formation called 'Split Apple Rock' which was on a nice little beach. We then headed to Kai-teri-teri Beach to chill out and sunbathe. Went to the pub for a few beers and some lunch. Got another take away for dinner :D Yum.

The next day Jan was off to a battle dressed as a German, he's been 'playing silly b*****s for 40 years'. Haha. He arranged for on of his friends to take us out while he was battling.

Third Day

Jan's friend Simon drove us around Nelson showing us all of the cultural things etc. We walked up a mountin to the centre of New Zealand and walked around some Japanese Gardens. He cooked us a BBQ for lunch and we met his wife. We got back to Jan's and did some star watching with his telescope, saw the Southern Cross, Seven Sisters, Syrian, Orions Belt. The sky was so clear :) Up early morning to get the Kiwi Bus to Westport.

We had a new bus load of poeple because we stayed in Nelson longer than the recommended time. The bus took us to Nelson lakes. They were beautiful, but the weather wasn't great! We fed the ducks, took a few pictures and headed to Westport.

Nelson has been one of the best places in New Zeland we have been so far :) Its always sunny here.
