Auckland

Arrived in NZ from sunny Fiji mid day. We headed towards the City Centre to find a hostel. Walked round a few, they were all fully booked because there had been a big festival the night before! Our error again... we probably should have prebooked one!! Found an alright one called Choice Plaza :) Few days here before we start our Kiwi Experience bus :) wahoooo.

First day in the city we walked around town and went to the harbour. We tried booking our first Kiwi bus to Mercury Bay but they were were fully booked. We didn't realise we had actually already booked ourselves on the bus online, so we had actually already missed it!! Whoops. No worries though as we managed to get on the next available bus on the 26th.

We went to Auckland museum, learnt about the Maori people who are th originals of NZ. We went in a volcano simulator which was quite scary! Sat in a lounge watching an eruption coming towards the patio door! Hopefully there wont be an eruption whilst we are here!!!

Mikaela's Birthday!

The day started with a Starbucks coffee :) ... a Mcdonalds lunch ... AND ended at an Indian restuarant for dinner! We chilled out up a volcano called Mt.Eden in the day time, it was a really sunny day and we overlooked the city. We could see the volcano, 'One Tree Hill'. U2 wrote a song about the volcano because their Kiwi friend died in Dublin. Also it's linked to the TV show!! There's not even a tree on the hill anymore though because of protesters! Had a great day :)

Not too much here, just a big city and no money to shop! Off to Whitianga tomorrow to begin the Kiwi experience :) whooo.
