Miffy's Mischievous Adventures
Hi all,
Well well well, it took me 33 hours to get to Kho Tao! It was a monster of a journey, but it was good to be back in Kho Tao and seeing the instructors I got to know before. I signed up for the PADI rescue course straight away and was watching the DVD's, reading the workbook, and completing the assessments before I had chance to shower.
The weather has been amazing in Kho Tao for the last 4 days and the rescue course was excellent. I really enjoyed the lectures with Kyte which were really interesting. Going into depth about SUBA equipment and what possible could go wrong and how to prevent this etc. Performing all the knowledge I had learnt in the water was so shattering but great fun. The course lasted three days and I completed all the exams and passed all the practical assessments. However, on the last rescue I had to perform (missing diving - which when I found him, he was an underwater victim, unconscious and unresponsive) I rescued him perfectly but struggled to equalize properly while completing the exercise and have had discomfort since in my right ear.
During the evenings I've been watching the world cup. There is a big bar with a massive screen in the port called Dirty Nelly's which screens all the games with english commentary with is cool. Met some lovely people again as per and I have been meeting up with them most nights.
Loving Kho Tao so much I'm really thinking hard about what I want to achieve from my travels and my future. Since i've arrived, for the second time I been considering staying in Kho Tao for a couple of months to complete the first professional diving qualification - Divemasters Internship. Completing your divemasters is a lot of work but it would allow me to work anywhere around world in dive shops taking out customers. This is appealing to me and working in a dive shop on the east coast of Oz or fruit picking - not a hard one! Also it would give me loads of opportunities in the future to travel and work and especially as I am a CIPD qualified trainer too......
After a couple of days thinking really hard about what I was going to do I decided to sign up. Thsi means that I probably will be staying in Kho Tao for approx three weeks. Then completing a visa run to Cambodia and on the return visiting Kanchanaburi. Then back to Kho Kho for a month to finish of the Divemaster's Internship before visiting Borneo, Bali, Oz etc as originally planned. I'm going to need to change fly's so finger crossed I will not get charged for this.
Well I've now signed up to become a professional diver, arranged a months accommodation and motorbike hire and got a local sim card so mumma simmons can call me as i've moved in for a bit. All is good, I am really looking forward to completing this course and working hard and it's so nice that I finally made the decision and going for it. Life is good and I start tomorrow with assisting a fun dive and in the afternoon I will be helping in the pool with a group of new open water students.
Bye for now
