New Year in Ko Samui!!

Happy New Year!!!

We left bangkok at about 6:45am!! on new years eve and got the a flight to koh samui, was cloudy when we arrived but magaged to get straight into our bungalow despite it being 10am. The bungalow is absolutely gorgeous, in fact the whole complex is great!! we re about 20metres from the beach, although it has been cloudy everyday so not used it yet!!

Just chilled out on new years eve had a nap and then started getting ready when to my horror i realised i have not brought any makeup!! Anyway i have had to restock today from the 3 boots stores that are in koh samui, was helped by a very nice boy with a ful face of makeup. unfortunately its no cheaper over here as EVERYONE wears it so they make quite a lot of money from the industry i suspect. Anyway i borrowed gemma for new years eve and the starightners were used for the first time, but we are not ging to bother anymore as we both had our hair in ponytails after 5 mins because of the humidity!!

We went to the hotel restaurant and was greeted by a lady with a garland and a cocktail we both opted for a sex on the beach, which came out blue but it did the trick, then we got a huge buffet of thai food and sea food!! Huge prawns and mussles etc!! i didnt have either but they looked good, but i have decided i am going to try and eat more fish in future!! Gem wasnt too keen on the pig roast which still had its head on but i tried some and it was nice!!

Had some traditional thai dancing and then a monkey show which was a bit cruel so we left at that point. it was a lovely meal but very coupley...if we'd sat there much longer i think i would have fallen in love with gemma so we went onto the strip to find a bar, gemma saw one she liked the look of so we went in and ordered a whiskey and red bull bucket, but we quickly realised it was a prostitute bar!! ooops, so we drunk up (as quicly as you can down a bucket of whiskey!) and left to go to an Irish bar our friend had told us about, was good in there but we really wanted to be on the beach at midnight, luckily we met 2 girls in the toilet (one who was from wakefield like gemma would you believe and whose dad taught at gems high school!) so we all went down tho the beach together, they have been here a week and the weather has not been sunny once so they are leaving on the 3rd for another island and hoping for some sun. i have looked at the weather forecast and it isnt good....the storms have been fine so far though, just showers!! There were fireworks all along the coastline and people setting off lanterns, i lit one and made a wish for 2009!! a few more whiskey buckets later we headed back to the apartment. gem isnt feeling too great today, so she is asleep while i write this, we are just going for a pizza tonight (need stodge!) and then out tomorrow night with nic and meg (girls from new year!!)
