Lindsay was waiting to greet us when we got off the plane…it was so nice to see her again after 2 months. We had both been starving in San Fran airport so Gem had bought a pastry and I had a subway sandwich, Then Lindsay announced her Mum was making us Eggs Benedict, so how could we refuse! We got to her house and all sat on the patio and had eggs and fruit salad and some cake. It was delicious!
Lindsay took us to the Aquarium as they have a new Beluga Whale which is only a couple of weeks old. Her friend works there so we all got in for free which was good. After that we went up Grouse Mountain where Lindsay works so we managed to get the cable car up for free (normally $50). We watched a Lumberjack show and took a cable car ride up to the top of the peak where people go skiing from in the winter and we had a wander round.
When we got home Lindsay's Mum had chicken and rice with salad ready for tea. It was absolutely gorgeous. So nice to have home cooked food again!
That night we met Lindsay's friend Kristin and all went to a Country and Western night in a bar downtown, which was really good. The next day Lindsay had to work at 7am so we met up with James who we had met in Thailand. He took us around Stanley Park and into some areas of downtown and then to a really nice place called Granville Island where we got Fish and Chips and ice cream for lunch. Lindsay came and met us about 3:30 and we hired a speedboat and went out on the water to Lionsgate Bridge and back. It was quite choppy so we got a bit wet but was a fun way to spend the afternoon. We had a lazy night and watched the "Bachelorette" (reality TV) with Chinese food and went to bed early.
The next morning we were up early and set off for Whistler. Lindsay's parents have a timeshare there so we drove up and had a wander round the village, and went for some lunch. I had a Cajun chicken Panini with chips and it was Bellini Tuesdays so we got $5 bellinis which was excellent. In fact the whole meal including tip was 12 pounds each which I thought was great. Then we went to the hotel and sunbathed by the pool for a couple of hours which was great! Had another pretty early night, we just stayed in and watched Slumdog Millionaire.
Wednesday was Canada day so we got up late and sat and drank Strawberry Daiquiris in the garden with Lindsay's Mum Vera. We were supposed to be meeting James and having a BBQ at the beach but he text me saying he had to work and so we ended up going to West Vancouver to a BBQ at Lindsay's friend's Mum and dad's house. The house was absolutely gorgeous and right on the water with an amazing view of the fireworks that went off at 10:30pm. Met all Lindsay's friends and everyone was lovely. One lady was originally from Scotland so was taking the mickey out of me and Gem for half of the night. I tried to explain I had some Scottish heritage but I don't think it worked. It was a great night though and the food was amazing.
Lindsay had to work at 3pm on Friday so we went downtown in the morning and Gemma bought some t shirts for her cousins. She had already bought some in LA but they had mysteriously disappeared in San Fran so she got them some Vancouver ones instead! We went for lunch at the Art gallery which was lovely and then went for Gelato ice cream. I had Raspberry Ripple and Feraro Rocha flavours mmmmmmm!! Then Lindsay headed off to work and me and Gemma went for a drink and bought Vera some flowers to say Thank you, then headed back to Lindsay's,
Had a quiet night (I seem to say that every night!) and packed and watched a bit of TV. Then we were up at 7am to catch our flight to Toronto!!
