The last time I was in Salvador, I flew in with Angie and after a night in the coldest air con I’ve ever experienced flew back out again. It poured the whole time. This time it was dry and very warm.
The six of us took the shuttle to the old town, where we wandered round the old cobbled streets for a while. Phil and Yvonne went back to the ship, while Barbara, Rob, Linda and I stayed on for a beer before grabbing a cab back to the ship.
In some ways, Salvador reminded me of Havana. Lots of glorious buildings that were slowly crumbling in the heat. In some places they were undergoing restoration and those that had been completed looked wonderful.
Barbara and I watched the sail-away from the Prom Deck and the pilot left Aurora and joined his boat right below us. Phil took part in ‘The Pursuit’ (the Chase by any other name), but didn’t get through to the final pursuit. He still won a goodie bag though. The others then went to bed, but the Hind’s and I went up to the Syndicate Quiz. We didn’t win!
We’ve moved our clocks back occasionally over the last couple of weeks. Tonight, much to everyone’s bemusement, we moved them forward. We’re now only 2 hours behind the UK.
