Early arrival to beautiful weather. Costa Deliziosa moored in front of us and Artemisa behind. Stayed warm and sunny all day, quite humid. Because of the travel advisory placed in cabins a couple of nights ago, everyone left the ship sans jewellery and in some cases, watches.
The six of us took the shuttle to the Casa de Cultura, which is a converted prison. We then negotiated a six seater cab to take us to Olinda (the colonial capital), where we saw some carnival heads, a couple of churches, amazing views and a monastery. After a beer in the old prison, the rest went back to the ship, but Barbara and I strolled along the river and over the D. Pedro II bridge (which was built by the British), through some of the shopping streets, before returning to the ship. We were hot but had had an unexpectedly good day.
Rob, Linda, Barbara and I decided to eat in the buffet restaurant 'Horizon' tonight as it was Indian night. You're guaranteed a decent curry on P&O because of all the Indian staff on board.
After the quiz in Champions, we decamped to the Riviera Pool for the Tropical Night Party. After yesterday's alcohol free day, I made up for it today!
