From the 25th until the 28th June we have been living in a private apartment in the centre of Rome, Via Degli Avignonesi.
It's a great location in the centre of the old part of Rome, close to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
The apartment itself was charming in a narrow lane on the second floor. It has shuttered windows and the back room opens into a private court yard space where we could hang out our washed clothes.
We had fun practicing our basic Italian with the cafe waiters and shop keepers.
From the 29th we join a tour group and spend two days in the Rome region visiting the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel :
world famous for Michelangelo's ceiling paintings. Next was too brief a visit to St Peter's Basilica and square, followed by the colosseum and the Roman Forum.
