MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
We didn't go to Waterford, we chose to stay in the little fishing village where the ship docked.. Well it didn't actually dock, as we had to take tender boats to go ashore. The seas are a little bigger today so the ride to the shore could be exciting. In fact the ship had been rocking and rolling all night. We are in the Celtic Sea. Dunmore East is a popular holiday spot and fishing is the main industry. The houses are very quaint and some have thatched roofs and coloured doors. The sun is shining today and its quite warm so there are plenty of people swimming at the beaches. We walk around the coast to the 'upper town' and then back. There is a path for a coastal walk along the cliff tops heading out of the town so we head off to follow this. We are not the only ones on this walk and its very pretty with the Celtic sea on one side and farming land on the other. The path takes us down into a little bay, an obviously popular spot judging by the well trodden path. We either have to retrace our steps or can return via the roadway. We opt for the latter and make our way up the steep hill passing paddocks of round bales, Suffolk sheep and, a gorgeous young Clydesdale. The road is quite narrow and winding, really only made for 1 car And definitely no provision for pedestrians. Almost back into the village there is a path through the woods which is a better option than the road. Next stop a pint at the pub and then a walk back to the upper town for lunch. Last tender today is at 3.30pm. The seas have become somewhat rougher and the boat ride back to the ship is like a roller coaster complete with screeching passengers! Got to love the Americans! Once again there are a few stragglers so the last tender arrives back around 4.30 then we are good to go. A sailing day tomorrow, time to pack up and prepare for Amsterdam and the trip home.
