MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
Yesterday was our first full day at sea. Making our way to Estomia from Denmark via the Baltic Sea. It was fairly wild and windy and the waves were huge crashing against the ship. Not exactly sure where the day went but we managed to keep busy between the gym, learning to jive, and of course making sure we were fed and sufficiently hydrated. At sea days coincide with formal nights so we dressed for dinner before going to the 2 for 1 happy hour for the Aussies and the Kiwis. At dinner we are seated with 2 couples from the US and that is very entertaining. We didn't have to say much ! Happy Birthday Sam! Tallinn Estonia - bordered by Russia and Latvia it is the smallest nation in the Baltic region . We have a walking tour starting in the upper town and finishing in Lower town. As with a lot of the European countries Estonia has been ruled by Germans and Russians, independent then Russia again and is now independent again. The influences of these regimes is evident in the architecture and town layout in Tallinn. The upper town was where the aristocracy lived and lower town was the poor. The city has a wall which had a huge gate that was locked at night so that the poor people couldn't get to upper town at night. Our guide was a born and bred Estonian and full of knowledge. Back on the ship we move to the Lido deck for a big of time in the sun and to watch Estonia disappear as we sail away . Today was warm and sunny, a bit of a rarity for Tallinn. Tonight we dined in the Tamarind Restaurant with 2 retired Aussie couples , again very entertaining and again we didn't have to say much! Tamarind is am Asian Restaurant and over the 4 courses, we tried a few different tastes Big 2 days ahead in St Petersburg.
