Clear blue skies, no wind. Beautiful day.
Glaciers, sheep, ponies, geese, waterfalls, ducks, icebergs, seals and ocean and more icebergs and its only 11am.
Driving back to our hotel now, it's 4.30 and 19 degrees. Has been a sensational day. We even worked up a sweat climbing up to the Svartifoss waterfall in the Skaftafell National Park.
For the most part of today's drive we have had glaciers on our right as we are going around the coastal side of the Vatnajökull National Park. Jökulsárlón which translates to a Glacier Lagoon sits at the base of the largest of the outlet glaciers flowing from the ice cap. The icebergs break away from the glacier and float into the Lagoon and some end up in the sea. It's an awesome sight and a haven for ducks and seals.
We also drive through a lot of 'desert'. Very flat plains of black sand. We finish the day as it started in glorious sunshine viewing glaciers and waterfalls.
