Amsterdam is a lot nicer than American movies make it out to be. During the day it is an extremely beautiful city built around canals. There are tulips everywhere. Everyone rides a bike... I'm not kidding. There are bikes everywhere, including a 3 storey parking lot just for bikes!
We visited Anne Frank's house/museum today and absolutely loved it. Obviously it was depressing, especially after our visit to the concentration camp, but her story continues to add to my growing knowledge of life during WW2. I bought the book and am looking forward to reading it on the plane. You will all have to borrow it when I'm done.
We enjoyed a long dutch pancake lunch: Smoked salmon, creme frache and guacomole; spinach, pine nuts and goats cheese; apple and cinnamon; and chocolate. Dutch food is AMAZING! It is definately going to be the theme for our next multicultural dinner Asquiths!
We also visited the Heineken brewery which was very entertaining and a little educational as well. It will be the drink of choice at the theme dinner, I'm sure! They had a cool 4D experience on the process of how beer is made. We also got a couple of personalised bottles made with our names on them.
This evening, to celebrate Contiki's last night, we all went on a cruise around the city. It was absolutely beautiful. We have definately ended this holiday on a (natural) high!

Deb I am glad you saw and appreciated the other side of Amsterdam. I had heard it was beautiful. That lunch sounds devine. I could easily dress as a dutch lady with cardboard clogs for our theme dinner but from now on you travellers will be able to tell my costumes are not really very authentic and a little bit silly. All of your cruises around the various cities sounds like a highlight to me. Can not wait to relive your travels with you. I am sooo excited and want to hear it all.
