Day 5 In The Big Beijing House
Todays venue........Olympic Park, home of the 2008 Olympic games.
The day started with a surprisingly calm taxi ride to the Olympic Park.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the usual street sellers trying to sell you everything but their child, however, there were a few bargains to be had so we didnt discourage them.
30 postcards for £2. Can't say fairer than that.
After having a look around the Olympic grounds we headed for the Water Cube (Olympic pool, which has been converted to an indoor water park)
We were sent to ticket stand 7 to purchase our tickets only to be handed a rules book which stated that we had to wear a swimming cap and to go in the deep end you had to sit an exam, in which you would receive a license for...
Colin thought they were taking the piss so we went to another ticket stand where discovered that we had been asking for tickets for the Olympic Swimming pool and not the Water Cube Water Park......Woops.
Anyhow, 200 Yuan later and we were in the wave pool giving it big licks to a lady gaga tribute band playing on the stage.
The water park itself was pretty good. Good atmosphere and a couple of good slides.
After spending a few hours in the pool we left to see the other Olympic stadiums only to be hounded paparazzi style after Colin asked to have his photo taken with a couple of Chinese girls.
After that there was a 20 strong clan surrounding us for a group photo. Has to go down as one of the most bizarre and strangest moments ever!!
Good fund and plenty to remember on this day.
7:30am start tomorrow for the Great Wall Of China.
