Day 1 - Singapore
Another early start, another flight and a new destination was on the cards for today.
We woke up at 6am this morning in order to catch our flight from Phuket to Singapore at 9:55am. It wasn't a pretty sight and the taxi journey to the airport was more quiet than normal.
God knows how we are going to survive the Australian bus journies next month.
Security and immigration was a breeze at Phuket airport until we got through to the departure lounge only for a power cut to take place. Laura was a little freaked out by it, however, the backup generators kicked in quickly enough and everything was back to normal.
We had some Thai Bhat left to use up and were struggling for things to spend it on so in the end it was invested in a book named "101 things to do before you die". Has given me a few ideas.
There wasn't much waiting around until we were on our Air Asia flight bound for Singapore. Flight time was around an hour and a half and passed fairly quickly.
We got our bags at the other end in good time and then caught a taxi to our apartments without any hassle.
Today's venue - The Somerset Bencoolen Apartments.
Very nice apartment in a really central area just off Orchard Road. The city looked fairly busy with the Grand Prix taking place tomorrow night, however, after settling in and unpacking we were not in the right frame of mind for exploring so decided a few hours kip would be a better option.
We woke up around 7pm and were considering going to the qualifying of the F1 Grand Prix, however, opted for food instead.
Another Hard Rock Cafe was on the cards and it was welcome to Singapore with a bang as our bill was nearly double what we had been paying in other countries. After dinner we went a walk along Orchard Road and took in the sights before venturing to the Scottish pub at the Far East Shopping Centre.
$32 for 3 drinks! Ouch again......
We had another few drinks over at the Irish Bar on Orchard Towers before calling it a night in order to be up and fresh for our big day out at the Grand Prix tomorrow.
