Day 1 in the Big Beijing House
Well, after 12 hours of flying we finally arrived in Beijing.
Hats off to BA.....the chicken curry on the plane was amazing.
As for Beijing.... its certainly not what I expected.
Hardly anyone speaks English and their choice of food is rather interesting.
Today we've had to resort to KFC for lunch and the pre-packed Super Noodles for tea.
Have no fear though.......allegedy there is a TGIs and Hard Rock Cafe.
On arrival, it was funny to see that they class us as "aliens" on the immigration cards and thats certainly how you felt when walking around. All the locals seem to stare in amazment at seeing us foreigners walking in amongst them.
I thought I was into my photography until I came here. They have put a whole new meaning to the phrase "snap happy". Feels like the papparazzi are following you around as you catch a glimpse of people taking your picture.
We even had a couple come up to us and asked if they could have their photo taken with us :-)
We took a walk up to Forbidden City today. Amazing buildings, however, the heat and tiredness made it hard to take it all in.
Plus......my big toe nail fell off :-)
We ended up back at the hotel at 5:30pm and crashed out thinking we had slept for days. Turns out we had only been sleeping for 4 hours and now we cant get back to sleep.
Tomorrow we plan on going to the Happy Valley Theme Park.
