Almost a week into 2nd session and so far this session I've been busy. I was put in charge along with Mark of the 12U swim team for the upcoming gala. So during the 2nd session swim checks I had my eyes open for swim talent. The first chance I had we had a 12U practice so I could start assigning people strokes. We also got given the opportunity to take the team to a local swimming pool to practice rather than the lake. So we made the most of the chance and went over turns and starts to try avoid any DQ's when it comes to it. The session was really productive giving me a good idea of which kids fit in where. So well that we should be going back some time next week. That evening at the staff meeting...

The following day was a 5k road race that the camp had been invited to. I was the only staff member who signed up along with 13 kids so I was put in charge of waking them up at 5.30am and get them ready to run. There was a mixture of camp runners and local runners from the area a total of about 100. And I managed to win the whole event! 18.52 was my time just beating a women who beat the female record for the course on a sprint finish. So I won the overall event earning myself a little trophy. Also there was overall camp awards which we came 2nd in out of 3 camps. This all happened in the morning so we were back for instructionals at about 11am!
