3rd week at camp included a few different activities. My bunk had town night for their evening activity which included a cinema visit to see Planet of the Apes, followed by a supermarket stop off to give the kids a chance to buy some candy for the bunk. Also this week we had the announcement of the Olympics and the opening ceremony of the Caribou Olympics games which included fireworks, team flags and the reading of the oaths. I was assigned into team Mexico and it was immediately obvious that we had a strong team. So the next two days consisted of team and individual events competing against 5 other countries . There was a tug of war, basketball, volleyball, baseball, handball, soccer, canoe race, apache relay (a relay race which included pretty much every activity around camp and van push events for the teams, and individuals in most other sports. I competed in the swim coming second by 0.03 seconds. Disaster. We got to the final event, team cheers, in a good position to win and after all calculations were made we ended up coming joint first with USA. The American flag was joined by the Mexican flag for the rest of the day in honour. Really fun couple of days and a great way to finish up first session. The next day was visiting day, so the camp was flooded with parents and siblings. Some left camp for the day, some stayed around and watched their kids during the sports. It was fun meeting the parents of the kids and they were all extremely nice. So then we had packing day, followed by leaving day for the first session kids. As my bunk isn't gaining anymore kids I got to go with my bunk to old orchard beach again. But this time to go around the amusement park rather than chilling on the beach. I was responsible for Avi, Jonah and Sam for the day as we made our way round park. Overall a really fun day out and as we got back most of the 2nd session kids had arrived so we started learning names again.
