Friday the 27th of June, the day the kids arrived. We got assigned our bunks a few days before so Pete and I prepared the bunk for their arrival. They all arrived in one go on the NY coach late afternoon. The evening consisted of getting to know you games around camp, before getting the kids into bed, lights off at 9pm. The first evening went incredibly well, clearly they were all tired from travelling all day.
The first morning started early, 6am to be exact. Pretty much the whole bunk was up and playing basketball in the gym when wake up was supposed to be 7.30!! Saturday morning the swim staff were at the lake for camp swim tests. Unfortunately as I was there the whole morning I missed the bunk photos! The afternoon of Saturday were the first instructionals which are the periods where the councillors are actually teaching their sports. 3, 1 hour periods teaching different bunks. All went well for the first run. Sunday was a late wake up so there was a staff soccer match for an hour before breakfast. Then after breakfast there was double instructionals for the rest of the day, finishing the day with camp fire in the evening, where the camp give out sweets and people volunteer to perform all sorts of things at the front around the camp fire.
Monday 30th was the first day of the proper camp routine. With instructionals in the morning and electives in the afternoon which are where the kids can choose where they want to go and the activities organise unique games instead of teaching skills.
