We had heard about some rocks that resembled pancakes that we just so happened to be passing on our way to Westport. This intrigued us, as we both like rocks and pancakes, so we took this opportunity to merge both our interests into one! We found a small pull in bay and got into position to take some professional photographs of these lustful rocks. When we stared at our view I was unable to see the pancake rocks until Sophie pointed them out to me. These rocks were ROUND! Who the hell eats round fat pancakes? I was under the impression that pancakes were flat but hey maybe pancakes are Easter Egg shaped in New Zealand! We took photos as evidence anyway for you guys to decide..... The real name for these rocks is Punakaiki Rocks incase anyone is interested. We had to eat the left over SpagBol in the car park to cheer me up.
When we arrived in Westport, we checked into Seal Colony Top 10 (it appears we are big fans of the Top 10 camp sites!). When we checked out the area we found a seal colony (surprise surprise) which was in a place called Cape Foulwind. A short drive and walk and we found the seals! Most of the seals were sleeping but our favourite was a baby seal which refused to sleep and instead spent its time rolling around trying to get comfy whilst looking around to see eveyone asleep. We headed back to the camp site for a Martin special BBQ.
