Arriving in Lake Tekapo at night we couldn't help but notice the stunning scenery surrounding us! The lake itself against the backdrop of snow capped mountains! We headed to the lodge for a drink and saw some hot pools although we didn't take a dip - our swimming trunks were the last thing we packed for the walk! In the morning the beauty of the place was confirmed as we looked out the window of the campervan at the blue lake with clear blue skies! It took another two hours for us to actually get out of bed - it was freezing! We headed into town for breakfast and supplies, then drove to the church of the good shepherd which was built against the backdrop of the lake and mountains! Then we went up Mount John along a small steep windy road to take in the view from above and investigate the star gazing observatory they have up there! More stunning views and a cheeky cup of tea and we were on our way to our next destination!
