As sure as death and taxes if you pick a spot away from everyone else someone is going to pitch right next to you. In this case it was a family with very wingy kids, that means no lie in. We didn't get a good sleep during the night either, an army of kangaroos raided the family camped next to us during the night - you could here the chomp, chomp, skip, skip noise.
We got off earlier than expected, as we were behind some caravans. Wish we didn't as we saw a kangeroo being run over by the van in front and left to die. It really shook Liz up.
From the gorge we went to Ellis falls and did the customary hike with the customary flies. I have to admit that we are troopers. The falls are pretty much the same as the others, small waterfall and a pool to swim in.
We are just on the border of Kakadoo and have just payed $25 each so that we can enter the park and get fleeced more whilst being driven mad by the flies.
The flies are driving me insane. There isn't a massive amount but the ones that are here are trained to be as annoying as possible. Ears, eyes and mouth is there moto as you can see from the fly on my mouth.
On the possitive side there are lots of parrots (err that's it). I don't normally winge about a place (except when I cannot get enough to eat or without coffee) - what is it about Oz this time around?
I am in a pattern of writting these blogs at the end of the day, in the dark around the tent. Me and Liz were sitting next to each other when I felt something land on my leg, then as I jumped into the air felt something slimy brush my face. Liz said "What - eruugh" as it landed on her. A search brought up two likely suspects: a cane toad or some shiny tree frog that we tried to get a picture of but it did a runner (obviously gilty).
