We went down the road to Katherine Gorge. At the visitor center we got a map and were met by the flies that were to accompany us round the 12km route. Why do they keep buzzing in your ear, why don't they just get on with what they do.
It was stinking hot on the route, warnings were saying it was 40 degrees C due to the cliffs focusing the heat. The gorge was pretty, and the river inviting - but I dared only put my feet in due to the risk of crocs.
The path was full of loose stones that made walking a pain. Liz slipped and fell into a stream at one point. Her pants dried in the most amusing way: still wet at the base of her back and between her legs.
We stayed at the gorge camp site. So far the only close encounter was a kangeroo that came up to us.
It is 8pm and quite time, other campers need to get their sleep so that they can get up at the crack of dawn and wake people up with their hugh trucks.
Bye the way you are probally wondering how I got this picture of a kangeroo (the iPhone has no flash). It is a picture of my camera showing the kangeroo (as if you care).
