Didn't have to be on the bus til 9.30am getting a bit spoilt with the later starts hehe. First stop after a short drive to Ephesus an old Roman town, one of the biggest cities of its time with 400,000 people living there, from arond 10,000 BC to 900 AD. Lots of well preserved ruins, we saw an old grand library which is the attached picture, with an underground tunnel leading to the local brothel, so the men used to tell their wives they were off to the library but actually they were getting a bit on the side!! We also saw the public latrines, where men used to socalise and book a two hour spot, in the winter they used to get their slaves to come and warm the seat for them before they arrived! Then it was back on the bus and off to the house of virgin Mary a lovely peaceful place which is managed by the Vatican. It was safer for Mary to be away from Jersuleum, so she went to Turkey and later died there. We had lunch at a traditiional Nomadic eatery in a tent, you sit on cushions on the floor and order pita bread and kebabs etc. After lunch it was a visit to the ruins of the church of St John the apostle. Then back to the hotel the rest of the group went to town, we went for a swim in the pool at it was 36oC.
