Bus free day. Woke up today quite flat, both were tired and been on the go for a while. Seeing heaps but its the heat and crowds that seems to wearing us out. In saying that we still appreciate seeing the sites that we have both dreamt about seeing. Today was an early rise and on the go at 7.15am to walk to Metro to get to the Colosseum before the crowds, which was great. Bit spooky what went on there and the fact they built it in 8 years. Then met Phillipo, our guide, for walking tour from Colosseum to Piazza Navarone via the ruins of the Forum and through the Pantheon (that was very impressive). Then quick takeaway lunch in the Piazza then walked to the Vatican city for a guiding tour by Phillip. The Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel were very impressive but we were very tired from all the walking and the 35°C in the shade heat. The decoration in the Museum and Chapel were surreal, also the collected artworks were impressive especially with the explanations provided by Phillipo. You could spend 2-3 days in there easily. Crowds in the Sistine chapel were disrespectful and took photos and talked even though being frequently told not to by the guards, it was standing room only though. Finished tour at 3.30pm and both decided to get back to the air conditioned Hotel room. Might have an easy tea tonight, Debbie having a quick sleep in the room now. We're having a "phase 2 day" today.
