We stayed in Toronto for Monday night but at a different hostel, no sick this time! Shared with a German couple and a lad from Manchester. Had a bit of a lay in as we had a long day ahead of us - bus to Winnipeg wasn't until 1 am! We dropped our stuff at the station and headed for our new found love...Tim Hortons! It's a yummy coffee shop but cheap and does nice food! As it was another nice day we went down to the harbour and chilled in the sun. Even managed to witness some policing - Only some crazy guy trying to jump in the river..but still! The police over here are so chilled and easy going! There were about 5 of them sat in Tim Hortons one evening drinking coffee! Also saw one getting his trousers turned up whilst working! Even so- they're friendly but you know they do the job well and wouldn't mess! The harbour overlooks Toronto Island which is about a 10/15 min ferry ride and only $6.50 cad each...so off we went! The island was incredible - so quiet and still in comparision with the city! Again it was well looked after with many park areas and lots of fountains. The seem to like the water fountains over here - see them everywhere! Nice touch though! The beaches were lovely too, they surrounded most of the island. We even stumbled across a nude beach - very interesting! Mark embraced the opportunity whie I hid in the shade with my sunglasses on not knowing where to look!! It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city - was like being on a desert island! We discovered a maze, although it must have been for children as it was quite easy..could have been the fact we could see through the hedges! The ferry back to the city was just as it was getting dark so the views of the city were impressive - shame the photos don't show this as well! We then headed over to the original hostel to collect some money from sicky boy - also managed to borrow the internet - shows how nice the hostel is! We were spoilt there! We then went and stocked up on food for the 30 hour bus journey! We thought we were crazy for just doing this part but soon discovered that were were doing it the easy way! The bus was full and most of the people were going all the way to Calgary or Vancouver and some have started their journeys early than us..some as far as New York and Montreal! It seems to be the norm to spend days at a time on the bus - even for some older people! One lady couldn't understand why we were spending a night in Winnipeg just to break up the journey! We slept the whole of the first leg to Sudbury - at 7.30am!
