We started the morning by being chased by goats! They followed us from the camper to the shower block and then one kept trying to get in to the showers!! We fed the sheep, goats and Lamas. Lamas are very amusing!
We have changed our route now! We were heading back towards Queenstown but instead as we have extra time we are heading south!
We set off in the direction of Invercargill which turned out to be much bigger than we expected. We drove through it to start with and went out to Bluff which is on of the most southern points of New Zealand. It was a tiny fishing village with a port. We found a sign that told us that we were 18,958 km from London! We didn't stay long as there wasn't much to see and the viewpoint we wanted to visit was closed. We went back to Invercargill where we visited the queens gardens. We met more lamas and an ostrich as well as an emu, pigs, rabbits, goats and deer and also Thomas the tortoise!! We had a lovely walk around the park as it was such a lovely day.
From there we set out along the southern scenic route which took us along the Catlins coast. It was a very rural route passing through lots of farm land with hundreds of cows and sheep! We stopped at 2 waterfalls along the way. The second set of falls were the Purakaunui falls which we had previously seen pictures of and thought how amazing they were..and they were in real life!
We found a lovely campsite on the beach, a beach where lots of sealions live! We went to see them in the evening but there was only one snoozing on the beach! We met another couple in a spaceship who have already been to SE Asia and to many of the places we are going which was helpful!
