First thing, we enquired about wildlife tours in the hope that we would see moose and bears but unfortunately not! May get to see a grizzly bear in Lake Louise but no moose! We then made our way along a trail to Vermillion Lakes. Was a nice walk there - shame about the weather though - a bit overcast again. The lakes themselves were not as we'd hoped so didn't spend long there. We followed the trail along the river back into town. We have changed our plans again and we're staying for another night here and one less in Lake Louise. There is still a lot to do here compared with Lake Louise. We ummed and arghed a lot about whether we should trek up Mount Sulphur and visit the hot springs. However after a bit of researching we decided that it would take too long today and that we shall complete first thing in the morning. Instead, we chose to go horse riding. Both a lil apprehensive - me because i've not ridden for years - and Mark because he has never ridden!
Anyway my horse was Loredo and Mark's was Bridie! We were assured that they were well trained and off we went! I was first behind the leader - the horses follow nose to tail - yet mine was lazy and took a while to get going! Marks on the other hand decided to to trot everytime there was a a lil space emerged in front of him. He also kept trying to overtake which annoyed Loredo. It seemed as if Bridie was reacting to my commands for Loredo and kept trotting each time i tried to get Loredo to move! The trail went through a woodland area around a lake. There were some beautiful views as it was early evening and the sun had finally shown itself! Loredo remained well behaved throughout whereas Marks and the horse behind him, Riley, were particularly naughty! Bridie got rather hungry on route and kept stopping to have a munch! The trail lasted an hour and was an enjoyable ride.
We got given a money off voucher for a saloon bar in town so we indulged in another meal out!
Managed to persuade Marky to do a bit of mooching in the shops! Even got to buy things!
Have really noticed the evenings getting colder - not sure if its because we're in the mountains or because its getting colder - Humf!
Last day in Banff tomorrow! :(
