Woke up early and went for a walk through the local park. We then made our way to the coach station. We were feeling adventurous so took the train and walked! Didn't take long - in fact it was probably quicker than getting the taxi!
Coach to Banff was defo the best journey yet! The views were amazing and much better than we had imagined! The scenery was different/new around each corner. The mountains are incredible and there were lodges and towns in such amazing places with great views. One town we went through was called Canmore on the border of the national park entrance. We liked the look of this town so knew we were in for a treat when we got to Banff.
Banff Bus station was on the outskirts of the town so we hadn't seen any of the town prior to getting to the hostel/lodge. It was about a 15mins walk and the further we got the more amazed we became! The town is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and is so well looked after. It wasn't like your average town, it was how we imagined a Mountainy town to be. All the buildings fit the scenery - see the pics! They're not gimicky/cheap looking!
The Bow river runs through the town and our hostel/lodge was just the other side of the bridge. As we approached our hostel/lodge we couldn't believe we were staying there! It was very poooosh looking and more like a hotel! The lady on reception was very helpful as she told us about the many things to do here. Our room is lovely, not like a hostel at all!! We have a great view overlooking Rundle Mountain. See pics!
After napping we went out for a meal for Marks birthday! It was the first proper evening meal that we have been out for and it was worth the wait! The food was beautiful and we even managed 3 courses!! Mark was very satisfied and wishes it was his birthday more often!
We then walked around town mooching in the shops! It made a nice change to visit gift/souvenier shops that weren't cheap and rubbishy! Although there were lots of shops..I could quite easily have bought one of everything in each shop! Needless to say, Mark has made it clear that I am not to go shopping on my own - unless he has all the bank cards!!
Both excited about tomorrow - thinking of hiring some bikes! hmmm!!
