Hi Folks, I am back in Aswan now after having a rather extended stay in Dahab. After the initial ferry delays there was more bad news, we discovered our new crew Sean & Bridget were missing and as we had already met them briefly we were confused and surprised when they didn't turn up for their induction meeting. After frantic phone calls to our previous guide Tania and to the local hospitals we joked that they had done a bunk and run off with the kitty...

Still here in Dahab, we should have left yesterday but we have been delayed by 4 days because the end of Ramadan festivities are about to begin. No great disaster though as I am loving it here!! Just recovering from a nasty bug which had me puking all over the pavement in front of a bunch of Egyptian shopkeepers too! Ah well, no doubt there will be worse embarrassment to come!

I am now in Dahab, which is on the coast of the Red Sea and this is the life!! After leaving Luxor we had another 8 hour train journey back to Cairo to sort out out Sudanese visas which went surprisingly smoothly for all of us except an American girl who had a bit more difficulty. Been out here just over a week now, and in this time I have already travelled Cairo to Aswan (12 hours on an overnight train) and Aswan to Luxor (3 days on a mozzie ridden felucca/sail boat journey). The trip so far has been really cool, but not exactly roughing it (well apart from the felucca, but more about that later) we've been staying in hotels with pools and doing all your typical Egyptian sightseeing (Abu Simbel, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, ...

Well I have arrived safe and well in Egypt, flights went really smoothly and I had a taxi waiting for me when I arrived at Cairo airport all as planned, thought my luck was up however when the cars started playing dodgem with each other and was well pleased with my decision to sit in the backseat, away from possible catastrophy.
