Marie's Big Adventure
Since my last postcard, I have travelled from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia through Kenya to reach Uganda, and on Xmas day we travelled to the Congo for the day Gorilla trekking and then returned to Uganda, which is where I am right now.
Xmas day arrived and I was a little apprehensive about the trekking involved in seeking out a family of Gorillas, but I needn't have worried, the guides split us into fast medium and slow groups, and fortunately having joined the slow group it only took us one and a half hours to find our family of four Gorillas; A silverback, his mate and two children (a baby and a juvenile). The baby immediately made it's way towards us, closely followed by the mother but after watching us watching them for a few minutes they soon made their way back to the silverback. The silverback was great, really human mannerisms as we watched him resting his head on his hands, lie on his belly to watch us and emit the most enormous fart. The baby climbed all over him and swung about in the trees which was all pretty cool to watch! A real treat for xmas day.
