G'Day Possums
You lucky people are getting 2 entries today as the website was not working yesterday so could not update with yesterday's activities, so here goes.
Richard dropped us at St Kilda and this is where we spent the day. It is the trendy area of Melbourne where all the young people are seen so we obviously fit right in!!!!
They have a real nice market here on Sunday and all the things have to be handmade and there were some nice things. The market naturally leads to Luna Park which is an old theme park with old style rides like a carousel and rickety rollercoaster but such good fun, you enter the park through a big smiley mouth!!!
St Kilda is renowned for its cake shops so we went down the main street and had a look around the place was packed with people eating brunch and chatting, it was so busy. As the weather was quite good we headed for the beach and took a break from walking for 1/2 hour.
The next thing was a bit of a bonus we decided to walk along the pier to a teashop, this burnt down in 2003 and has been restored to its former glory you get good views of the city skyline form here as well.
But if you go around the back of the teashop and walk along the breakwater if you are lucky as we were you get to see the Fairy Panguins nesting in the rocks, needless to say you have to be respectful of their environment and keep quiet but it was amazing to see them in their natural habitat.
We walked back past the St Kilda Baths and the market which was closing up but we could not leave St Kilda without visiting one of the cake shops to pick up dessert!!!!
Had another fantastic meal that Jill had prepared for us, played fetch with the dog for a while then went to bed. Speaking of food it is now time for breakfast so will try and post again later.
Lots of Love
