We had bagged some decent economy seats on the Qantas flight down to Queenstown so the 2 1/2 hours passed quite quickly. Helped by another breakfast and a beer!
A hotel upgrade on arrival meant we had a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding mountains. We headed out for a wander around the main town area and grabbed a couple of beers followed by a Mexican for dinner.
Sunday morning we headed up the Gondola for some more spectacular views of the surrounding area. A further chair lift trip took us to the luge starting point where you can hurtle down two different tracks. A picnic and a bit of trekking about and it was time to head down again.
We then embarked on a bit more exploring where we stumbled upon an ice rink! No ice at this time of year though. It was then a trip to a wine store to pick up something local to drink on our balcony.
In the evening we headed to a wine tasting bar where they had wine vending machines where you could choose a taste, a half glass or a full glass of over 80 different wines! Such fun. We finished the evening off with some Chinese dumplings before heading off to bed.
