Sunday 17th & Monday 18th April Today we picked up our 2nd car and left Sydney for Port Maquarie. It was an easy drive and we took the Tourist Route through the Great Lakes. When we arrived at the motel it was early evening and raining heavily. We took our things up to the room and waited for the rain to clear before heading in to town for something to eat. Saturday 16th April Jan wanted to see the Observatory so I decided to spend the day wandering on my own. I caught the bus to Bondi Beach - it was a beautiful day and the beach was really busy. There was a huge Yoga event in the middle of the beach with hundreds of women taken part. Friday 15th AprilToday we caught the bus to Botany Bay with Jane and Mike. We went on a walking bush tour with Tim Ella, an aborigine gentleman. He told us aborigine stories about his family and his ancestors. He was very interesting. He told us about the food that they used to eat and how his ancestors used boomerangs to hunt birds and kangaroos.After the walk we had breakfast in one of the cafes and then spent an hour on the beach. On Wednesday 13th April we caught a bus down to Central Harbour and enjoyed a tour of Sydney Opera House. The lady showing us around was lovely and the inside of the building was as impressive as the outside. We were lucky enough to catch two rehearsals in the theatres. In the Joan Sutherland theatre we watched The Sydney Royal Ballet rehearsing for Swan Lake and in the second theatre we listened to the Sydeny National orchestra rehearse. On Tuesday 12th April we arrived in Sydney. We dropped off our hire car and went for a coffee and snack before booking in to the Cambridge Hotel. Our room was nice and big and had a large balcony. We left the hotel to go to Sydney Harbour to have a look at the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. I was really excited to see these famous landmarks of the city.
