Sunday 17th & Monday 18th April

Today we picked up our 2nd car and left Sydney for Port Maquarie. It was an easy drive and we took the Tourist Route through the Great Lakes. When we arrived at the motel it was early evening and raining heavily. We took our things up to the room and waited for the rain to clear before heading in to town for something to eat. The next day we drove straight to Byron Bay and arrived about 3pm. We drove straight to the Lighthouse to look at the views over the bay. We then went down to the beach and enjoyed an ice cream on the front as the sun was setting. There were loads of people around as Byron Bay is very popular with backpackers. It was lovely wandering around the town looking at all the shops. We had a lovely Mexican meal before heading back to the hotel.
