Our third full day in Sucre began by being awoken by some kin of sporting match going on in the school behind our hostel. We aren't sure what game they are playing but it starts pretty early and involves a lot of whistling which gets through the paper thin walls and windows ridiculously easy.
After getting ready, we went to Simon Bolivar park which is about 6 blocks out of the city centre. Our walk to the park was marred as, within walking distance of the park, we were confronted by 2 dogs getting intimate with each other. This wasn't the greatest sight but what made it worse was that the dogs were taking turns at being the male. We are not sure what the crack is with that bit it's not a sight we really want to recall!!
The park is well kept and there are plenty of seats where we perched our white bodies in the hope of catching some sun. We weren't disappointed as the sun was stupidly hot and someone, i.e. me, ended up with quite a white patch where my watch had been. We sat for about four hours listening to some music and podcasts while I researched China trying to work out how we will navigate the huge country if we can get visas. It has to be said that although the park was decent it wasn't a patch on the park in Mendoza which is by far the best we have visited so far.
After leaving the park, mainly due to being so hot, we went to a cafe on the main plaza which came highly recommended. This was called Cafe Abis where we had a panini each which was fantastic and Beth had a chocolate milkshake even though she said she was resisting anything sweet.
Tonight, we have said goodbye to Gareth, Jared and Natasha who we have been travelling with for 2 weeks as they are headed to La Paz a few days before us as they are going to the Amazon. We have also extended our stay in Sucre to Monday when we will leave to go to La Paz where we have also booked our hostel which happens to have its own micro brewery and you get a free beer every night. I didn't tell Beth this bit when we booked the hostel!!
We have been for a pizza tonight which was excellent. This was at a restaurant called Napoli Pizza which is just off the main square for anyone interested. We are just having a few drinks in a bar tonight and prolonging our first drinks until happy hour kicks in at 9. It has to be said that Bolivia has been brilliant for the fact that we have been able to eat out every night and have a few drinks within the budget. How different this is to Argentina where we ate out about twice in 25 days!!!
