Our last couple of days in Salta have been pretty quiet and relaxing. On Sunday we headed to a local market in the morning only to get there and find that it was not yet open. After surviving the journey of the ham and cheese sandwiches we managed to find the hostel pretty easily with Gareth and Jared from New Zealand who we had travelled from Mendoza with. As it was still early, around 8.30am we weren't able to check into our room yet so headed into the city centre for a bit of breakfast. Today we are travelling from Mendoza to Salta which is around 1,300km and takes around 18 hours. Previously we have travelled via what is called cama and cama ejuctivo classes. These two classes of travel have basically involved either lying completely flat or reclining to a 45 degree angle and have been very comfortable with hot meals and drinks. Yesterday we went to visit the vineyards and wineries for which the Mendoza area is famous. We could have went on an organised tour but instead we decided to go with three other people from our hostel, Gareth and Jared from New Zealand and Kye from the US. Today we went on the Alta Montana High Andes tour which took us up into the Andes to visit some historical sights and a closer view of the mountains. In Beth's words, the tour was really "amazing". We started at the Poterillos Dam which holds the water which serves the whole of Mendoza. The weather was excellent which made the view of the reservoir even more spectacular.
