Spent the end of the day watching the wind surfers and kite surfers. Some sort of competition going on. Apparently some had been out all day. Last day on Maui. Packed up and ready to fly to New York. Typing this in the airport. Didn't want to waste the day so decided to drive up to the top of the volcano. Haleakala is the largest dormant volcano in the world. It last erupted in the 1700s. Since then 3000ft have been eroded off the summit, which is now just over 10,000ft. Had a great day. Drove The Road to Hana. The road is 52 miles long, has 617 bends and 56 one lane bridges. You pass some breath taking scenery as the road hugs the steep slopes of the north of the island. It takes about three hours to drive one way, (then you've got to drive back because the road doesn't go round the island) as the speed limit is 15 mph most of the way.
