Went to Torrey Pines State Park, just north of San Diego. The Torrey Pine is the rarest pine tree in California. The park was set up to protect it's environment. There are some great cliff top hikes and hikes down to the beach, 300 feet below the cliffs. There are fabulous views of the Pacific Ocean, the odd sea lion and, of course, the obligatory pelicans! Got back early to get sorted for flight tomorrow. Just about fitted everything in! Gets harder each time!

Went to Mission Trails Regional Park. Did a couple of short hikes. One easy and one straight up. Extremely hot, got up to about 29C. Made it up to the Tower with much effort, plenty of breaks to get breath back and a litre of water. Called in at San Diego Mission, the Queen of Missions, on way back. This was the first of the twenty one Missions built by the Spanish Franciscans. It went to rack and ruin in the late twenties, but was then restored and stands proud...

Another busy day. Went to The Old Town this morning, which is a living museum of restored and reconstructed buildings which are now stores, stables, saloons and restaurants. Everybody in costume and many in role. It is a State Historic Park that " captures the energy of the community between 1821 and 1872. It offers a glimpse of the lifestyles of both the ordinary residents and the most wealthy and influential." They do things well over here! Went in search of a...
