LINDA'S TALES OF TRAVEL AND OTHER CATASTROPHES
On the way to Florence we stopped off in the little town of Pisa. It was interesting, but also strange to see the leaning tower. Interesting because it actually has a decent lean going there! Strange because, outside of the square where the tower is, there's really nothing else, just a run-down town.
In Florence we stayed in a really cool campsite which was more like a whole village community - complete with a disco (where everyone was in their teens...hmmm), restaurant, supermarket, swimming pools and so on. It was at the restaurant that I discovered that pasta is only the entree in Italy. As a result I ended up having two bowls of pasta, a massive pizza and some gelati for dinner that night. Needless to say I was the only girl who achieved this feat...
Florence was absolutely beautiful but crowded with tourists. I didn't get to see the 'real' statue of David but saw the replica in the square which will suffice for now. I'd love to go back when the queues have gone but I loved it anyway.
